About Pixel Arcade

Pixel Arcade is a static site with 28 retro arcade games that we wrote ourselves. Each one is built from scratch in HTML5 Canvas with hand-drawn pixel art. There are no ROMs, no emulator and nothing to install.

The designs are a tribute to the cabinets of the late 1970s and 1980s — the ones whose rules fit in a single sentence: dot mazes, gallery shooters, falling-block wells, single-screen platformers. The names, the artwork and the code are all our own, and we are not affiliated with any arcade brand or rights holder.

Every game supports both a keyboard and a touchscreen. High scores are kept in your own browser's local storage — there are no accounts and we do not collect personal information.
