About this game

Block Stack is a falling-block puzzle. Seven shapes made of four cells each drop into a ten-wide well, you rotate and slide them on the way down, and any row you fill completely disappears and pulls everything above it down one line.

On a keyboard: left and right to move, up or X to rotate, down for a soft drop that adds a point per cell, and space for a hard drop that slams the piece home. On touch, the pad under the screen does the same job, with the action button mapped to rotate. A ghost outline shows where the current piece will land, which makes tight placements far more reliable on a small screen.

Scoring rewards greed: one line is 100 points, two is 300, three is 500 and four at once is 800, all multiplied by your current level. Level rises every ten lines and the pieces fall faster each time, so the game is really a race between your stacking speed and gravity.

The core tip is to keep the stack flat and leave a single well column open on one side for the long straight piece. Dig out overhangs immediately — a covered hole costs you far more than an ugly-looking surface. Falling-block wells became the defining puzzle format of the late 1980s and remain the most-played puzzle shape in browsers.
