About this game

Maze Muncher Neon is the harder sibling of our dot-eating chase game. The rules are the same — clear every pellet, avoid the patrols, use power pellets to fight back — but three things change and all three punish autopilot.

First, the bonus fruit walks. Instead of sitting in the middle waiting to be collected, it enters from a tunnel and wanders the corridors, so grabbing it means committing to a detour while patrols are still active. Second, the patrols use a looser targeting rule with a random component, which means a route that worked last round can walk you into a corner this round. Third, the maze geometry rotates between four layouts, so you are re-reading the map every few minutes.

Controls are arrow keys or WASD, plus the on-screen pad on phones and tablets. Scoring follows the same ladder: pellets 10, power pellets 50, and 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 for consecutive patrols eaten in one power window. Moving fruit is worth more than static fruit.

The best habit here is to clear a whole quadrant at a time and keep a power pellet in the quadrant you plan to finish in. Maze chasers with variable layouts arrived a couple of years after the original single-maze cabinets and were the first sequels that changed rules instead of just sprites.

FAQ

How is this different from Maze Muncher?

The fruit moves, the patrols pick less predictable routes, and the maze layout changes each round, so route memory helps less.

Which one should I play first?

Start with Maze Muncher to learn the chase, then come here when fixed routes get too easy.

Touch controls?

Yes, a full four-way pad under the screen.
