About this game
Maze Muncher is a single-screen chase game. You are a hungry dot-eater locked in a grid with four patrols, and the round only ends when the last pellet is gone. Movement is grid-locked, so the skill is planning your turn a corridor ahead instead of reacting at the junction.
Controls are the arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard and the on-screen D-pad on touch. Pellets score 10, the four corner power pellets score 50, and each patrol you eat inside one power window pays 200, 400, 800 and 1600 — catching all four on a single pellet is the biggest swing in the game. Bonus fruit appears near the centre twice a round.
Tips: sweep the outer lanes early while the patrols are still slow, keep one power pellet in reserve for the last quarter of the maze, and use the side tunnel to break a chase, because patrols crawl while they are inside it. The red one comes straight at you; the pink one aims where you are heading, so a sudden reverse usually shakes it off.
Single-screen maze chasers like this one defined arcade halls around 1980, and the format still works because a round takes about two minutes.
