About this game

Dragon Bubbles is a single-screen platformer where your only attack is a bubble. Blowing one sends it drifting forward; if it hits a monster, the monster is trapped inside and the bubble floats gently upward with it. Trapping is not killing — you have to jump into the bubble to burst it, and if you wait too long the monster breaks free and returns at higher speed.

Move with the arrows, jump with up, and blow with space; on touch, the pad plus a fire button. Empty bubbles are useful too: they rise slowly and you can stand on them, which is the intended route to ledges you cannot reach by jumping. Learning to blow a bubble, jump onto it and blow another from up there is the technique that opens up the harder stages.

Scoring rewards batching. One monster burst alone is a small amount of points and a piece of fruit. Bursting three or more bubbles in a single jump multiplies the value and drops much higher-value items, so herding bubbles into a corner before popping them is always worth the extra seconds.

Each stage is one fixed screen, and clearing every monster advances you to the next layout with faster enemies and tighter platforms. Bubble-trapping platformers were one of the most-copied single-screen designs of the mid-1980s.

FAQ

How do I clear a stage quickly?

Trap several monsters, herd their bubbles into a cluster, then burst the cluster in one jump. Chained bursts drop far better fruit.

Can I really stand on a bubble?

Yes. It is the intended way to reach the top ledges on several stages.

Is this the same as Bubble Shooter?

No. That one is an aiming puzzle; this is a platformer where the bubbles are your weapon and your staircase.
